September 23, 2015 | Women's Soccer
Kansas City, Mo. -- The Bowling Green State University women's soccer program was named a 2014-15 College Team Academic Award winner, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Wednesday afternoon.
The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 859 soccer teams (305 men, 554 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year.
The Falcons posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.32 under third-year head coach Lindsay Basalyga last year. BGSU has also earned the team academic honor in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
"I'm happy that our players can see that they can succeed in both academics and athletics at BGSU. It shows that a commitment to change on the field doesn't mean they have to give up anything in the classroom. It's nice that this balance is beginning to get recognized," said Basalyga.
