Gymnastics Volunteers With Race For The Cure

Toledo, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team volunteered at the Race for the Cure in Toledo Saturday.
Led by head coach Kerrie Turner, the Falcons volunteered from 8 am until noon, where they helped with pre- and post-run set up and tear down. The team set up the food and water area, along with providing items to the runners and walkers. Once the race was over, they stayed and helped with tear down.
The Race for the Cure is a nonprofit organization through Susan G. Komen, whose mission is to save lives and end breast cancer forever. Last year, Susan G. Komen's community grants provided financial and social support for more than 50,000 families impacted by breast cancer.
"I am so proud of our team for volunteering their time for such an important cause," said Turner. "This event is huge and really brings home the large scope of people fighting breast cancer in our community and all over the world. We have certainly seen former gymnasts and gymnastics family members affected by this disease. What a special day to give back and support the Race for the Cure."
