South Bend, Ind. - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team traveled to South Bend, Ind. to take on the University of Notre Dame. The Falcons fell to the No. 33-ranked Fighting Irish 7-0 at Eck Tennis Pavilion Sunday evening.

Freshman Polina Radeva faced No. 57-ranked Quinn Gleason at No. 1 singles. Radeva took a quick lead 1-0 with Gleason answering each game. The two remained tied at 4-4 but Gleason prevailed to win the opening set 6-4. She used that momentum to win the second set 6-1.

At No. 2 and No. 4 singles were freshman Paula Comella Aguilo and senior Drew Fillis. Aguilo battled with Monica Robinson while Fillis took on Mary Closs. Both Aguilo and Fillis fell behind 3-1 in their first sets but answered back winning two games before losing their first sets 6-4. Notre Dame held Aguilo and Fillis to one game each in the second sets, winning 6-1.

Radeva and sophomore Emily Witt took an early lead over No. 32-ranked Gleason and Robinson at No. 1 doubles before the Notre Dame duo tied the set at 1-1. The Falcons fell behind 3-1 before Radeva and Witt closed to within a game at 3-2. Gleason and Robinson, though, closed with three consecutive games for the 6-2 win.

At No. 2 doubles were Comella and Fillis, who fought hard against Brooke Brode and Allison Miller. The Falcons won the opening game and led 4-3, but the match went unfinished when Notre Dame clinched the doubles point.

The Falcons return home with two weekend matches against Illinois-Chicago Saturday and Wright State Sunday at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
