Falcons’ Run At ITA Regionals Comes To An End

Main Draw Singles Results - Saturday
East Lansing, Mich. – The Bowling State University tennis team's run came to an end Saturday afternoon at the ITA Midwest Regionals. The Falcons competed in the singles main draw which began at 10 a.m.
"We let a few chances slip away when we shouldn't and that cost us the matches today," head coach Stephanie Dalmacio said. "Overall, we fought hard and left everything out on the court, I'm proud of the girls for all the hard work they put into this season. We are all looking forward to the main season in January."
Freshman Anna Kholodnaya captured the first set against Patricia Lancranjan of DePaul, 7-6(4). Kholodnaya lost the second set, 6-0. In the third set, Kholodnaya battled before eventually falling, 7-6(4). Kholodnaya finished the weekend with a 3-1 record.
After dropping the first set to Illinois' Daniela Pedraza-Novak, sophomore Paula Comella rallied to win the second set, 6-2. Pedraza-Novak then fought back to take the third set, 6-4.
Freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash fell in straight sets to Adey Osabuohien of Northern Illinois, 6-1, 6-3. Tavpash tallied two wins over the course of the weekend.
The Orange and Brown will return to action at home Jan. 27 against the IUPUI Jaguars.
