Heredia Iglesias Leads the Falcons in First Day of ODU/OBX Intercollegiate

First Round Results
POWELLS POINT, N.C. – After the first of three rounds of play, the Bowling Green men's golf team sits ninth overall in an 18-team field at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate. The Falcons carded a 291, +7 team score on the first 18 holes in the 54-hole competition.
"We had to count a high score today but are certainly still in contention. We will look to shoot something under par tomorrow and see where that puts us," Bowling Green men's golf head coach Kevin Farrell said. "I'm also happy for Pablo because he's been playing great at home."
Thus far, the Falcons have tallied 52 pars and 14 birdies, with five of those birdies coming from sophomore Pablo Heredia Iglesias in the first round.
Heredia Iglesias started off the three-day tournament with a new season round low, placing him in a tie for first overall out of the 93 individual participants. With an 18-hole score of 67, -4, the native of Sevilla, Spain topped the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate leaderboard after the first day of competition, and is currently in a three-way tie for first with J.B. Williams of Akron and Andrew Reynolds of La Salle. In addition to five birdies on the day, Heredia Iglesias also averaged 3.78 strokes on par four scoring and 4.25 on par five holes.
With a first round score of 71, E, senior Brett Rinker is tied for 23rd overall at the tournament. It is the second time that the native of Slippery Rock, Pa. has carded a low round of 71 in the fall season. Rinker also earned a team-high of 14 pars on the day, which is the second most of the tournament thus far.
Narrowly trailing Rinker is fellow senior Jose Narro. A native of Tampico, Mexico, Narro is currently tied for 31st overall after carding a first round score of 73, +2 in the first day of action.
Rounding out the Falcons lineup is redshirt sophomore Max Rispler and sophomore Noah Firestone. Rispler marked a first round of 80, +9 and is currently tied for 80th overall, while Firestone tallied a score of 83, +12 in his debut round with the Bowling Green men's golf program and currently is tied for 89th.
