Falcons Look Forward to Competitive Weekend
October 26, 2016 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team is on the road, as they look forward to a weekend of fast swimming and flawless dives. The Falcons will have back-to-back meets, as they take on Xavier University on Friday, Oct. 28, and both Marshall University along with Mid-American Conference opponent, the University of Miami on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Second-year swimming and diving coach for BGSU, Matt Ense, had a few words to say in regards of the Falcons competing against the Musketeers this upcoming weekend. Coach Ense stated, "Xavier offers a chance to race one of the better teams in the Big East Conference as their women placed 3rd at the Big East Championships last year. We will be competing in a sprint format on Friday evening. We will do our normal 16 event format with 50's and 100's of stroke instead of 100's and 200's. This will allow a unique opportunity to work on some speed before we go back to our normal 16 event format on Saturday vs Miami and Marshall. Xavier does not have diving boards so we will not be able to capitalize on our diving strength and will rely on some depth in the water".
Swimmers and divers will rise up against C-USA team, Marshall University, along with MAC rival, Miami University on Saturday, Oct. 29 starting at 1 P.M. The meet will take place at Miami's home pool, located in Oxford, Ohio. The order of events will be as follows:
1. 400 Medley Relay
2. 1650 Free
3. 200 Free
4. 100 Backstroke
5. 100 Breaststroke
6. 200 Butterfly
7. 50 Freestyle
8. 1 Meter Diving
9. 100 Freestyle
10. 200 Backstroke
11. 200 Breaststroke
12. 500 Freestyle
13. 100 Butterfly
14. 3 Meter Diving
15. 400 IM
16. 200 Free Relay

The Falcon's head coach, Matt Ense, commented "Miami and Marshall will offer us some great opportunities to race two very talented and deep programs. On paper we are at a disadvantage with our depth compared to the Hawks and Herd's times from this season so far. This will challenge us to see how tough we are as a group and it will give us a great measuring stick of where we are, at the quarter point of the season. Being able to compete in Oxford allows us to get comfortable with our surrounding before we come back for the conference meet in February".
The Falcons are taking on this upcoming weekend coming from a victory against MAC opponent and school rival, the Toledo Rockets. BGSU claimed the win, ending the meet with a 196-95 score. Cooper pool will see some action from the Falcons once again on Friday Nov. 11, as they host Michigan State University at 6 P.M.
