Rinker Leads the Falcons After First Round at Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic

First Round Results
LAHAINA, MAUI, HAWAI'I – The Bowling Green men's golf team completed the first day of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic by carding a team score of 304, +20 through the initial 18 holes of play.
Senior Brett Rinker kicked off the 54-hole tournament with a round of 73, +2. The Slippery Rock, Pa. native currently leads the Falcons lineup, while the round is his third lowest opening round of the fall season and places him in a tie for 34th overall in a field of 132 players.
After the first round of action, fellow senior Jose Narro narrowly trails Rinker by just one stroke and with a score of 74, +3, to place him in a tie for 50th overall.
Making his season debut is sophomore Trey Walker. A native of Bowling Green, Ohio, Walker marked a first round score of 77, +6, which places him in a tie for 83rd in the large competition pool.
A pair of Falcons are currently tied with each other after carding first rounds of 80, +9. Sophomore Pablo Heredia Iglesias and redshirt sophomore Max Rispler are tied for 109th overall.
Although the Falcons rose as high as 11th in the team standings throughout the first round, Bowling Green finished the first day of action in 21st place. South Carolina currently leads the 24-team field with a score of 282, -2 after 18 holes of play, while LSU follows closely with a score of 283, -1 for second.
The Bowling Green men's golf team will continue the 54-hole tournament tomorrow morning with second round play beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
