Falcons Improve Team Score by 10 Strokes in Second Round of Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic

LAHAINA, MAUI, HAWAI'I – Through the first 36-holes of the 54-hole tournament, the Bowling Green men's golf program sits in 23rd place at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic. The Falcons carded a second round of 294 for a two-day total of 598, +30.
Collectively, Bowling Green marked 10 less strokes on the second day of play, lowering its team scores from 304 to 294 from the first to second rounds, respectively. This was done by four of the five Falcons lowering their individual round scores on the second day of play.
Leading the team for the second day in a row was senior Brett Rinker. The Slippery Rock, Pa. native shaved off two strokes from his first round score of 73, to mark a 71 in the second round for a two-day total of 144, +2. The round of 71 matches his season low round mark that he accomplished in the opening round of play at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate two weeks back. Rinker is currently tied for 39th overall in the 132-player field.
Also marking a tournament low round of 71 on the day was senior Jose Narro. A native of Tampico, Mexico, Narro carded three less strokes from his first round of 74, leading to a two-day total of 145, +3. Through the first 36-holes of action, Narro is tied for 51st place, while the round of 71 is his lowest round since the final 18-holes of play at the Inverness Intercollegiate on Sept. 20.
Also dropping his scores from the first to second days of the Hawaiian tournament was sophomore Trey Walker. In his first event of the fall season, Walker carded a 77 in the first round, followed by a 76 in the second round. With a 36-hole score of 153, +11, the Bowling Green, Ohio native is tied for 104th overall.
Sophomore Pablo Heredia Iglesias significantly lowered his score on the second day of action as he carded a round of 76, after marking an 80 on the first day of play. With a two-round score of 156, +14, the Sevilla, Spain native is currently tied for 115th.
The final Falcon competing in the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic is redshirt sophomore Max Rispler. A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., Rispler has marked a score of 80 for both the first and second rounds for a 36-hole total of 160, +18 thus far in the tournament.
Georgia took over the 24-team field by carding a second round of 266, to sit in first with a total team score of 550, -18. LSU remains in second place with a total team score of 560, -8.
The Bowling Green men's golf team will round out the 54-hole tournament tomorrow morning with the final 18-holes of play beginning in an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
