Wiggins, Gustafson Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's basketball player Demajeo Wiggins and women's track and field athlete Aliyah Gustafson.
Male Athlete of the Week
Demajeo Wiggins, a sophomore from Toledo, Ohio, registered the first double-double of his career Tuesday against Evansville. The sophomore went 5-for-9 from the field, 8-for-13 from the line, and scored a career-high 18 points. He also pulled down 12 rebounds, which tied a career high, and played a career-high 32 minutes. In the Falcons' win over Detroit Mercy, Wiggins totaled a career-high four blocks, went 2-for-3 from the floor, and added four rebounds, one steal and one assist. For the week, Wiggins averaged 11.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks, while shooting 58.3 percent from the field.
Female Athlete of the Week
Aliyah Gustafson, a redshirt junior from Iowa City, Iowa, threw an indoor personal best in the shot put with a toss of 51-feet-10.5 at the Golden Flashes Gala. Gustafson's throw is the second-longest in program history and ranks fifth nationally early in the year. A year ago, Gustafson qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the event.
