Schildt, Mitchell Named Vito's Athletes of the Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player C.J. Schildt and gymnast Laura Mitchell.
Male Athlete of the Week
C.J. Schildt, a redshirt junior from Hauppauge, N.Y., pitched six innings and allowed zero earned runs in Bowling Green's 1-0 defeat in the first game of a doubleheader at Western Michigan on Friday (March 18). The southpaw allowed just three hits in the game, and recorded four strikeouts. In all five of his starts this season, Schildt has pitched at least five innings. He has not allowed more than two earned runs in any start. In fact, in four of his five starts, he hasn't allowed more than one earned run. Schildt is 2-2 on the season, and owns a 1.63 ERA.
Female Athlete of the Week
Laura Mitchell, a sophomore from London, England, earned a career-high 9.925 on balance beam at the Mid-American Conference Championship meet, as she claimed the title of Balance Beam MAC Champion this past weekend in Muncie, Ind. Mitchell was a part of Bowling Green's new school record 49.250 beam score. The sophomore currently ranks second in the conference on the event with a regional qualifying score of 9.865. Mitchell has earned two 9.900s this season to go along with her school record 9.925, hitting that mark in the team's meets against EMU/SEMO and NIU.
