Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will compete in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on April 2 for the team's first NCAA Regional meet in 25 years. The other teams in the regional will be host school No. 4 Alabama, No. 10 California, No. 15 Boise State, No. 21 Kentucky and No. 26 West Virginia.
"I am so excited that we have been selected to go Tuscaloosa for NCAA Regionals," said head coach Kerrie Turner. "We'll be looking forward to focusing the team over the next two weeks and going out and competing aggressively at this championship."
The 36 teams that qualified for the NCAA Regional meet were told their fate this afternoon in the NCAA Selection Show, which aired lived on NCAA.com.
The Falcons competed in the Mid-American Conference Championship meet this past weekend where BGSU placed third with a 195.625, the team's highest ever score at a conference championship. BGSU ended up with a regional qualifying score of 195.455, good for No. 34 overall.
The Orange and Brown met the Mountaineers earlier this month, where the Falcons earned their second highest score of the season (195.725) on March 6, but feel short to WVU's 196.800. At the meet, 10 Bowling Green gymnasts tied or bettered their then-personal bests.
The rotation order for the team will be vault, bye, uneven bars, balance beam, bye and floor. The meet is set to begin at 4 pm inside the Coleman Coliseum on the campus of University of Alabama. More information can be found here.
