Falcon Duo Earns All-MAC Honors

Tibbs named to all-conference third team; Lambert chosen to all-freshman squad
A pair of Bowling Green State University women's basketball standouts have been honored for their season-long accomplishments by the Mid-American Conference coaches. Senior Lauren Tibbs was named to the All-MAC Third Team, while Sydney Lambert earned MAC All-Freshman Team honors.
The All-MAC Team, All-Freshman Team, All-Defensive Team and several specialty awards were announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon (March 97.
Tibbs, a native of Taylor Mill, Ky. (Scott), leads the Falcons in scoring, with 12.5 points per game to date. The center, in her first season at BGSU after transferring from Marquette University, also leads the team with 6.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocked shots per contest. She is shooting 56.0 percent from the field to lead the team – and rank second in the MAC and 20th in the entire nation – in that category.
Lambert, who hails from Cincinnati, Ohio (McAuley), is second on the team in scoring, with 9.6 ppg. She leads the Brown and Orange in minutes played (31.1) and steals (1.2 spg) and ranks second in assists (2.1 apg). Lambert also tops the Falcons in three-point field goals made, with 56. She leads the entire MAC and ranks 22nd in the country in three-point percentage, having made 41.8% of her long-distance attempts.
In MAC games only, Tibbs averaged 13.4 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 54.5% from the floor (good for fourth in the league). Lambert had 9.9 ppg and hit a team-leading 41 triples, and she led the entire league in three-point percentage in MAC games (42.3%).Â
Both Tibbs and Lambert have started all 27 games in their initial season at BGSU.Â
Tibbs, Lambert and the Falcons face the University at Buffalo in MAC Tournament first-round action on Monday evening (March 7), with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at UB's Alumni Arena. The winner of the BGSU-UB game will advance to Cleveland to face top-seeded Ohio in Wednesday's (March 9) quarterfinal round..
