April 17, 2016 | Women's Tennis
Bowling Green, Ohio – BGSU freshman Paula Comella added her name to the record books after picking up her 22nd singles victory of the year Sunday afternoon against Ball State's Peyton Gollhofer. With her 22nd win, Comella now ranks 27th in school history and is the seventh Falcon to earn 22 wins in a single season. The Bowling Green State University tennis team, though, fell 6-1 to Ball State at Keefe Courts on the campus of Bowling Green.
Suffering their first doubles conference loss this season was the duo of senior Drew Fillis and Comella. In an intense battle at No. 1, Fillis and Comella fell in a tie-breaker to Peyton Gollhofer and Audrey Berger. The teams tied at 3-3, 4-4 then 5-5, but Gollhofer and Berger captured the win 7-6 (8-6).
In singles, Comella earned her second win of the weekend, defeating Gollhofer at the No. 1 spot. Comella won the first set, 6-0, Gollhofer rallied to win the second set, 6-4, to force the super tiebreaker. Comella gave up just three points in the third set victory, 1-0 (10-3). With the win, Comella improved to 5-1 in conference play, 13-6 this spring and 22-8 overall.
