Heredia Iglesias Leads Falcons on Day Two of the 2016 MAC Championships

Sylvania, Ohio – Freshman Pablo Heredia Iglesias led the Falcons with a BGSU low round 70, -1 under par, on Friday, as Bowling Green carded a team score of 295, +11, over the third round of play at the 2016 MAC Men's Golf Championships hosted by BGSU at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.
Bowling Green remained in a tie for sixth-place overall on the team leaderboard at the conclusion of the day with a three-round combined team score of 898, +46. The Falcons are tied with Toledo after 54-holes of play.
"The weather was much better today and I feel like the scores across the board showed it," stated head coach Kevin Farrell. "We improved today, but need to make up more ground tomorrow in order to get in to the top-five. We are capable of doing just that, but we need a team effort and some low scores across our lineup to do so."
After carding rounds of 74, +3, and 77, +6, on day one, Heredia Iglesias registered a round of 70, -1 under par, on Friday to move up the leaderboard and into a tie for 12th-place overall. The freshman, who birdied holes No.16 and 17 on the back nine, was a par making machine with a total of 15 pars over the 18-holes of play. He leads the Falcons with a 54-hole score of 221, +8, heading into the final round of play on Saturday.
Sophomore Cameron Michalak carried over his strong play from his second round 71, even par, yesterday afternoon to shoot a 72, +1, on Friday, which included three birdies and 11 pars overall. Michalak will enter Saturday's final round of play in a tie for 18th-place overall with rounds of 82, 71 and 72 for a combined 54-hole score of 225, +12.
BGSU's Brett Rinker remained in the top-20 overall on the individual leaderboard with a round of 75, +4. Combined with his first two rounds of 77, +6, and 74, +3, the junior sits in a tie for 20th overall with his 54-hole score of 226, +13. Rinker had an up-and-down round on Friday with two birdies and 11 pars.
Fellow Falcons Jose Narro and Trey Walker are tied for 36th-place overall with 54-hole scores of 233, +20, after three rounds at the conference championships.
Narro turned in a round of 79, +8, on Friday, which included 11 pars. The junior has posted rounds of 75, 79 and 79 over the two days of play.
Walker tallied two birdies and eight pars to record his second straight round of 78, +7, on Friday. The freshman has registered rounds of 77, 78 and 78 over his three rounds. Â
Kent State increased its lead out to 15 strokes with a 54-hole score of 864, +12, heading into the final round of play on Saturday.
Eastern Michigan remained in second-place overall with a score of 879, +27, while Northern Illinois jumped to within one stroke of the EMU Eagles with a score of 880, +28.
Northern Illinois' Joo-Young Lee remained atop of the player leaderboard with a 54-hole score of 212, -1 under par, with rounds of 72, 67 and 73. He has a two stroke lead over Brett White of Eastern Michigan and his three-round combined score of 214, +1.
The fourth and final round will tee-off tomorrow morning beginning at 7:45 a.m. ET. The Falcons will be teeing-off in the opening group with both Ball State and Ohio.
