Bowling Green State University women's basketball director of operations Monique Rosati recently took part in a unique leadership experience. Rosati participated in the LeaderShape Institute, a six-day program for aspiring student leaders, earlier this month.
LEADERSHAPE INSTITUTE
LeaderShape is a six-day retreat which helps student leaders develop and enhance skills to aid in their leadership experiences and relationships. This year's LeaderShape Institute ran from May 9-14.
"LeaderShape was a great experience because it gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of insightful people who are dedicated to developing the lives of students," said Rosati. "I also was able to interact with students who were willing to work hard to achieve personal growth, so that they can in turn improve the lives of others on campus and beyond."
The LeaderShape program enables participants -- all BGSU students -- to work with BGSU faculty and staff members as well as external LeaderShape professionals who help in the process of growing and strengthening relationships. Participants also strive to become stronger leaders, teachers and learners. Rosati served as a cluster facilitator in the program.
Rosati, of course, is in a position which sees her interact with student-athletes on a daily basis. She is entering her 10th season as the director of operations for the Falcon women's basketball program in 2016-17, and performs a myriad of duties while working closely with the players and coaching staff.
"It was really inspiring to see so many kids that want to change the world, and assist them as they get one step closer to doing so," said Rosati. "I am so grateful to Julie Snyder for the nomination and Jacob Clemens for taking a chance on me. The things I learned during the week will stay with me for a lifetime."
