BGSU women's basketball assistant takes part in three-day event in Kansas City, Mo.
Bowling Green State University women's basketball assistant coach Jacey Brooks recently took part in the NCAA/NACWAA Women's Leadership Symposium. The event was held last Wednesday through Friday (May 18-20) in Kansas City, Mo.
The NCAA/NACWAA Women's Leadership Symposium was developed for women aspiring to begin a career in intercollegiate athletics. The program aims to enrich participants' skills, expand their professional network and promote the recruitment and retention of women working in intercollegiate athletics administration.
"The Women's Leadership Symposium was a phenomenal experience that allowed me to meet so many outstanding individuals," said Brooks. "I learned a lot about myself as a person and in my career professionally that will allow me to continue to grow. I participated in multiple activities including goal setting, personality strengths, creating values, a resume and interview workshop, and how to build power relationships.
"I want to thank NACWAA and Coach Roos for allowing me to take advantage of this opportunity. The three days in Kansas City were extremely inspiring."
Brooks enters her fourth season as an assistant coach at BGSU in 2016-17. A native of Machias, N.Y., she was an assistant coach at both St. Bonaventure and Canisius before coming to Northwest Ohio. Brooks was one of just 50 coaches across the nation selected to participate in the WBCU's Center for Coaching Excellence's inaugural session for assistant coaches in Atlanta, Ga., last August.
