Falcon Gymnasts Ranked No. 19 Nationally For Academic Success

Bowling Green, Ohio – The National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) released its annual academic awards and the Bowling Green gymnastics team ranked No. 19 nationally with a team grade point average of 3.5312. As well, nine Falcon gymnasts were named NACGC/W Scholastic All-America.
In total, 97 gymnasts nationally earned a 4.0 grade point average and Bowling Green was tied for third with six gymnasts holding a perfect GPA. They are Julia Beyer, Katie Morsefield, Lauren Feely, Rachel Reis, Shannon Goniwiecha and Taylor Livingston. Alyssa Nocella (3.88 GPA), Rachel Creagh (3.88 GPA) and Caroline Ellingboe (3.56 GPA) were also recognized for excelling academically.
"For the third consecutive year, our team has finished in the top 20 for team GPA," BGSU head coach Kerrie Turner said. "I am so proud of our gymnasts for their continued effort in the classroom. Excellence is at the core of our program and it is essential for our athletes to focus on success both in the gym and in the classroom. It is clear the team has taken this to heart and really balanced the demands of being student-athletes."
BGSU also excelled in competition this year, advancing to the NCAA Regional round of competition for the first time since 1991. Feely won the MAC all-around championship and Laura Mitchell was the MAC Champion on the balance beam. The program had its highest regional qualifying score (RQS) in program history and they broke the program's meet record score as well as posting its highest score at a MAC Championship meet ever.
