The Bowling Green State University football team took part in its first scrimmage of fall camp Saturday morning, showing off a balanced offensive and defensive effort.
BGSU's offense was consistent in moving the ball, while the defense came up with numerous big stops. Ben Hale intercepted a tipped pass on the first play of the scrimmage, setting the tone for the defensive effort.
James Morgan found newcomer Vanel Dossous for a 50-yard touchdown on the second possession of the scrimmage and BGSU also got scores on a 35-yard touchdown pass from James Knapke to Deric Phouthavong, as well as a 23-yard strike from Knapke to freshman Marquis Zimmerman. True freshman quarterback Elijah Cunningham hit Trevor Roop for a 25-yard scoring strike later in the scrimmage.
BGSU Football will have Sunday off before returning to practice Monday. Saturday will be an open scrimmage for season ticket holders, as well as a season-ticket holder lunch. Fans can become season ticket holders and receive these benefits by calling 877-BGSU-TICKETS or CLICKING HERE.
