BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team, behind a career-high 25 points from senior forward Wes Alcegaire, defeated Miami University by a score of 83-72 on Tuesday (Jan. 31) night at the Stroh Center. The Falcons made a season-high 10 three-pointers in the victory.
With the win, Bowling Green improves to 9-13 overall, and 3-6 in Mid-American Conference play. The loss drops Miami to 9-13 (2-7 MAC). The win was BGSU's second-straight over Miami at the Stroh Center, as the Falcons knocked off the RedHawks in last season's MAC opener.
Alcegaire caught fire in the first half, as he went 7-for-10 from the field, and 5-for-7 from deep to finish with 20 points. His 20 points at the half were just one shy of his entire-game career high. Alcegaire's effort pushed BG out to a 42-27 lead at the half. Bowling Green went 8-for-16 from three-point territory across the opening 20 minutes.
The Falcons led by double digits for virtually the rest of the contest. Miami got within eight points with 1:18 left in regulation, but senior Zack Denny hit two free throws just three seconds later to bump BG's lead back up to 10 points. The Falcons went on to close out the game by knocking down six more free throws.

Miami shot the ball very well, as they finished the game with a 56.5 (26-of-46) field goal percentage. The RedHawks made 8-of-21 (38.1) attempts from downtown, and converted on 12-of-16 (75.0 percent) free throw attempts, but 24 Miami turnovers led to 17 points for BGSU.
Sophomore Malik Hluchoweckyj set his career high for points for the second-consecutive game, as he poured in 10 points. In BG's last game versus Ohio (Jan. 28), the sophomore racked up nine points and a career-best nine rebounds. Hluchoweckyj went 4-for-5 from the floor tonight, and 2-for-2 from deep. He's now made two three-pointers in each of the last two contests.
Denny also finished with 10 points, and is now 69 points shy from becoming the 44th player in program history to score 1,000 career points. Redshirt-sophomore Rasheed Worrell had one of his better games of the season. He finished with seven points and eight rebounds.
Senior Ismail Ali, sophomore Demajeo Wiggins and freshman Dylan Frye totaled seven points each. Sophomore Antwon Lillard added five points, while freshman Rodrick Caldwell scored five points and chipped in with three assists and three rebounds.
