BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green tennis program had its most successful fall season in recent years, culminating in a total of eight flight titles and a total head-to-head record of 64-42, including a 43-24 mark in singles matches.
Over the course of the 2017 fall season, the Falcons generated five singles titles as well as three doubles titles. This is an improvement from last season's record of 57-41 in the 2016 fall campaign, a year in which the Falcons combined for three flight titles. Similarly in 2015, the Falcons earned five flight titles with a record of 41-34, while in 2014, Bowling Green earned just one singles title with a record of 22-55. With this fall's eight titles and record of 64-42, the Bowling Green tennis program has consistently improved to reach its most successful performance since Head Coach Stephanie Dalmacio joined the program as an assistant coach in the fall of 2014.
Individually, the four returning players to the Bowling Green squad also improved their personal records when they combined for 29 singles victories as well as 26 doubles wins this season, compared to 23 singles and 20 doubles wins in 2016. Standing out this season in doubles competition was junior Paula Comella and partner freshman Marta Bettinelli who earned 11 total wins, leading to two titles in the Falcons four tournaments of the fall season.
The Bowling Green tennis program will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 18 when it hosts Chicago State at 1 p.m. The Falcons will also be hosting its annual Pro-Am fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 2, with more information to come.
