Falcons Finish Strong At MTSU

FINAL STATISTICS
MURFREESBORO, TN – BGSU Men's Golf completed the MTSU Intercollegiate Invitational. The one day, 36-hole tournament was hosted by Middle Tennessee University and was played at the Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Falcons competed with 9 other teams, all non-conference competitors with a total of 68 athletes. BG finished tied for fifth place carding 607, +31 (300, 307).

"We got off to a great start despite the weather conditions, 26 degrees and frost. We made some great strides throughout the day but left some out on the field. We are excited to travel to Hawaii and prove the talent we have."
TEAM BREAKDOWN
- Winning the tournament was Middle Tennessee State carding 586, +10 (295, 291)
- For the second time this year the Falcons were the only MAC school competing in the tournament
- The Falcons tied in fifth with Eastern Illinois shooting +31
- BG had five athletes playing for the cumulative team score and two individual competitors (Trey Walker and Nick Hofland)

INDIVIDUAL BREAKDOWN
- Leading the Falcons Trey Walker finished in a solid fifth place shooting par in the first round and only +1 in the second round
- Walker finished the first 18 holes tied for eighth and moved up three places after 36 holes to finish in fifth overall
- All seven Falcons shot at least one birdie in both rounds
- Nick Hofland jumped four places from the first round finishing tied for 12th overall
- Hofland shot a total of two birdies and the Falcons only eagle in the tournament
- Max Rispler finished strong after the first tied for 4th after the first 18 holes shooting 71, -1
- Senior Cameron Michalak made his first competitive appearance for the season shooting two birdies overall
- Mitchell Kontak and Pablo Heredia Iglesias shot three birdies over two rounds of play
- Rodrigue Vie finished tied in 46th with two birdies
The Falcons will finish off the 2017 fall season in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic (Nov 3-5). The tournament will be hosted by the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and held at the Ka'anapali Golf Club, Royal Ka'anapali Course.
