Caldwell, Santoro Named Jet's Pizza Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are basketball players Rodrick Caldwell and Carly Santoro.
Male Athlete of the Week
Rodrick Caldwell, a sophomore from Dayton, Ohio, led the Falcons to a 3-1 record. Caldwell averaged 20.3 points, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds. He shot 52.1 percent (25-of-48) from the field, an absurd 56.0 percent (14-of-25) from downtown, and 70.8 percent (17-of-24) from the free throw line. Caldwell capped his week with consecutive 20-plus point games, setting his career high in points in both contests. Caldwell started the week with 18 points, and a career-high eight assists in a win over Lake Erie. He then racked up 18 points and seven assists in a victory over USC Upstate, before posting 20 points, five assists, and three rebounds in a win at Campbell. In Sunday's game versus Abilene Christian, Caldwell scored a career-high 25 points, tied his career high with six rebounds, while also dishing out four assists. Caldwell hit a career-high six triples versus Abilene Christian, as he went 6-for-9 from downtown.
Female Athlete of the Week
Carly Santoro, a junior from Bellevue, Ohio, was named tournament MVP as the Falcons went 2-0 and won the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament. Santoro had a pair of double-doubles, averaging 16.0 points and 14.5 rebounds per game to lead the team in both categories. She also had 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per outing, leading the team in blocks, tying for the BG lead in steals and ranking second in assists. On Friday, Santoro had a team-leading 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds as the Falcons topped Norfolk State, 59-50. Santoro added two assists, two steals and a blocked shot in 38 minutes of action in that win. Then, on Saturday afternoon, she again had 16 points to lead the Brown and Orange, and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds, a career best and the most by a Falcon since January of 2014. For the second-straight day, Santoro had two assists, two steals and a block. She averaged 37.5 minutes per game in the win.
