Baseball Inks Four During Early Signing Period

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball program and head coach Danny Schmitz announced the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent, the program announced Wednesday (Nov. 29) afternoon.
Tyler Hays (Copley, Ohio / Copley), Michael Malewitz (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids), Andrew Oehmke (Macomb, Michigan / L'anse Creuse North) and Griffin Parrill (Perrysburg, Ohio / Perrysburg) will join the program next fall, and have four years of eligibility.
Tyler Hays | 6-4 | 195 | RHP | T: Right | B: Right
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner at Copley High School … Plays for coaches Mike Chuppa and Ray Fantozzi … Team captain for the Indians … Led his team to the 2016 conference championship … Two-time first team All-Conference … Two-time All-District … Went 4-2 last season with a 2.21 ERA … His sophomore year, posted a 4-1 record with a 2.66 ERA … Registered a 2.85 ERA as a freshman, going 3-1 on the mound … Plays travel ball with Bo Jackson Elite.
PERSONAL: Full name is Tyler Lamar Hays … Born on June 17, 1999 … Son of Todd and Donna Hays … Has one older sister, Bailey … Plans to major in criminal justice.

PERSONAL: Full name is Michael Patrick Malewitz … Born on Nov. 8, 1999 … Son of Bernie and Patti Malewitz … Has two older brothers, Matt and Zac … Brother Matt played baseball for the Falcons from 2009-12 … Has two older sisters, Katie and Kelley … Plans to major in business.

HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from L'anse Creuse North High School in the spring of 2018 … Multiple-year letterwinner for coaches Jeff Dropps and Dale Campbell … The Crusaders of L'anse Creuse North compete in the Macomb Area Conference … Plays travel baseball for the Detroit Metro Stars … Chose BGSU because of his connection to the coaching staff, and felt comfortable and liked the campus.
PERSONAL: Full name is Lawrence Andrew Oehmke … Born on August 9, 2000 … Son of Larry and Gail Oehmke … Has one older sister, Emily … Undecided on a major.

HIGH SCHOOL: Set to graduate from Perrysburg High School in the spring of 2018 … Multiple-year letterwinner for coach Dave Hall … Also letters in basketball … Posted a sub-3.00 ERA last season … Led the Yellow Jackets to a 2016 Northern Lakes League championship … Played in the regional finals in each of the last two seasons … Plays travel baseball with Bo Jackson Elite.
PERSONAL: Full name is Griffin Reed Parrill … Born on Oct. 23, 1999 … Son of Steve and Heidi Parrill … Father is the head baseball coach at the University of Findlay, and was an assistant at BGSU from 1988-89 … Has one older brother (Collin) and one older sister (Maddie) … Brother Collin played baseball at Findlay … Uncle Marty Parrill played baseball at Findlay and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles … Plans to major in business.
