MAC Announces 2018 BGSU Football League Opponents
December 12, 2017 | Football
Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has announced home and away conference games for the 2018 MAC Football season. Along with previously announced non-conference opponents, BGSU Football now knows the 12 teams it will face during the 2018 regular season.
Bowling Green will host MAC East Division foes Buffalo, Kent State and Miami, as well as hosting a crossover game against Western Michigan. The Falcons faced all three home East Division opponents on the road in 2017, going 2-1 with victories at Kent State and Miami. BGSU has not faced Western Michigan since a 41-27 win in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Nov. 11, 2015.
Road games will include East Division opponents Akron and Ohio, while a pair of road West Division crossover games will take place against Central Michigan and Toledo. BGSU and Toledo meet every year as a protected rivalry game but the Falcons have not played the Chippewas since a 17-14 road victory on Oct. 30, 2010.
BGSU will open the 2018 season Sept. 1 at Oregon before hosting Big Ten foe Maryland on Sept. 8. Bowling Green has not hosted a team from a Power 5 conference since beating Indiana 45-42 on Sept. 13, 2014. The Falcons, however, did beat Maryland on the road in 2015, posting a 48-27 victory on Sept. 12 of that year.
Bowling Green will remain at home the next week to host Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 15 and will conclude non-conference play at Georgia Tech two weeks later on Sept. 29.
All dates for conference games will be announced by the MAC at a later time. Kick-off times for all 12 games will be available as the spring and summer progresses.
