Indianapolis, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University tennis team dropped its match to the University of Indianapolis by a 4-3 decision Saturday afternoon at the UIndy Tennis Center.
"We had a tough start with doubles today, but came back and fought on every singles court through the end," head coach Stephanie Dalmacio said. "We will bring it back tomorrow at home!"
Doubles play got started with sophomore Polina Radeva and freshman Ayumi Sasaki getting past Stephanie Hirsch and Bella Bergman, winning 8-5 giving the Falcons the first victory of the day.
Sophomore Paula Comella and freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash lost a close match to Hanna Volikova and Florence Renard, 9-7.
After a tough first set at the No. 1 singles spot, Comella breezed through the second and third sets to defeat Hanna Volikova, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Radeva added a tally to the win column after taking down Stephanie Hirsch, 6-3, 6-4 at the two position.
Up a set 6-1 against Florence Renard, Tavpash would eventually drop the next to sets 7-5, 6-2.
At the No. 4 spot for the Falcons, Sasaki grabbed a point for BG defeating Bergman, 6-1, 6-4.
The Falcons return to action Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. against Cleveland State at the Perrysburg Tennis Center in Perrysburg, Ohio.
