Oxford, OH – Day three of the 2017 MAC Championships has come to an end with your Falcons standing on sixth place in the conference so far.
The third day of the Championships started with the 400 individual medley. Freshman, Danica Garbett represented the Falcons in the championship final, finishing in 8th place with a time of 4:27.75. Sophomore, Mary Edwards and senior Hannah Albion represented the program in the consolation final, recording a time of 4:28.08 and 4:33.48 respectively. The next two events of the night were the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle. However, the Falcons had no swimmers competing in the finals of either event.
Senior, Kristin Filby was the only Falcon to qualify for the finals of the 100 breaststroke. Swimming in the championship final, Filby finished 8th in the event with a final time of 1:03.43. A total of four Falcons represented the program in the consolation final of the 100 backstroke. Junior, Elodie Schreiber came out on top, winning the heat and touching the wall at 54.73, which earned her 9th place in the event. Sophomore, Megan Larson recorded a 55.57 to place 4th in the heat and 12th in the event. Following Larson was senior, Maya Skorupski, who stopped the clock at 55.66 to finish 5th in the heat and 13th in the event. Freshman, Hannah Paris placed 7th in the heat and 15th in the event with a final time of 55.88.
The last swimming event of the night was the 400 medley relay, in which the Falcons earned a 4th place finish. The A team of Falcons was composed by Elodie Schreiber, Kristin Filby, Maria Galic and Hannah Paris, who recorded a cumulative time of 3:43.48. Schreiber started off the relay, splitting a 54.82 as the backstroke leg. Kristin Filby followed her as the breaststroke leg, splitting a 1:01.83. The butterfly leg was taken by Maria Galic, who recorded a split of 56.53. Anchoring the relay was Hannah Paris, who recorded a 50.30 split.
