Oxford, OH – The Falcons will start racing in the 2017 Mid-American Conference swimming and diving championships tonight, Feb. 22nd at 7PM.
This year's MAC championships will be hosted by the Miami RedHawks and it will be four days long. The MAC championships consist of two diving events, along with seventeen individual and five relay swimming events. Every individual event must go through the preliminary sessions, which are scheduled to start at 11AMÂ every day. For diving, the highest eight scores each preliminary session will move on to the finals session that same night at 7PM. For swimming, the fastest eight times per event will move on to the championship final, while places 9th through 16th will compete in the consolation final. However, a swimmer must qualify for the championship final in order to get a chance at competing for a MAC title. You can find the full schedule by clicking here.
The orange and brown finished their dual season 7-7. Going into this year's championships, the Falcons were ranked fifth in the coaches' poll. However, the program has placed 3rd at the MAC Championships for the past four seasons. Looking back into school history, the program has won a total of 53 MAC titles, including 43 for swimming and ten diving.
