Falcons Fall to Nationally-Ranked Notre Dame, 6-0
February 25, 2017 | Women's Tennis
South Bend, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University tennis team suffered a 6-0 loss to No. 41 Notre Dame Saturday afternoon at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
"We came close to winning the doubles point, but fell short on court two today," head coach Stephanie Dalmacio said. Good fight in singles, but did not bring it early enough to get the points we needed. We are looking forward to keep working until Friday when we take on Xavier.
Notre Dame claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.
In doubles, sophomore Paula Comella and freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash were first off the courts at No.1 as they picked up a 6-2 win over Notre Dame's senior duo of Jane Fennelly and Monica Robinson. This is the sixth win for Comella and Tavpash at the No. 1 spot this season.
In a close match, sophomore Polina Redeva and freshman Ayumi Sasaki fell to ND's senior Mary Closs and junior Allison Miller, 6-4.
The Falcons battled in singles play before the Fighting Irish pulled out wins on four courts to take the victory.
The Orange and Brown travel to Cincinnati, Ohio Friday, Mar. 3 to face Xavier. The match time is yet to be determined.
