Falcons Fall At Houston, 6-1

Houston, Texas – The Bowling Green State University tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to the University of Houston Tuesday afternoon at the Downtown Club at The Met Facility.
"Great competition on the court today," head coach Stephanie Dalmacio said. "We had close sets and great doubles playing. Excited to battle again tomorrow against McNeese State."
In doubles, sophomore Polina Radeva and freshman Ayumi Sasaki defeated the Cougars duo of Cristina Rovira and Constandena Nicolaou, 6-3 at No. 2 spot for the Falcons. This is the third doubles win for Radeva and Sasaki this season.
Freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash picked up the lone point for the Orange and Brown. After dropping the first set 6-4, Tavpash made a second set comeback 6-1 over Sveva Mazzari. With sets split, the match was abandoned before the third set could begin.
At No. 2, Radeva kept it close in the first set, falling 7-6(3) to Sveva Mazzari. Mazzari ultimately won, recording a 6-0 victory in the second set.
The Falcons will close out non-conference play tomorrow at McNeese State in Lake Charles, La. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
