Men's Golf to Complete Regular Season at Robert Kepler Intercollegiate

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green men's golf program will close out the regular season by competing in the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on April 22-23, hosted by in-state rival Ohio State. The Falcons will play at the par 71, 7,455 yard Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club, beginning with 36 holes on Saturday, followed by 18 holes on Sunday.
The 15-team tournament field will include Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Miami (OH), Michigan State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, host-school Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers. The Falcons will send out a lineup led by senior Jose Narro, followed by senior Brett Rinker, sophomore Pablo Heredia Iglesias, redshirt sophomore Max Rispler, and rounded out by sophomore Trey Walker.
Continuing to lead the Falcons lineup will be senior Narro, who is coming off of a 215, -1 performance at the Lone Star Invitational, an event in which he totaled a team-leading 36 par scores. On the season, the Tampico, Mexico native has averaged a score of 71.45 across seven events, and has started at the number one spot all year. Additionally, Narro finished on top of the Bowling Green leaderboard with an even score of 213 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in November.
Most recently, Rinker finished on top of the Bowling Green lineup for the second time this season at the Lone Star Invitational when he carded a 54-hole score of 213, -3. Rinker tied for 18th overall with a season-best score of 68, -4 in the third round of the tournament. A native of Slippery Rock, Pa., Rinker also finished on the top of the lineup in October's Mountaineer Intercollegiate with a total score of 222, +6, and finished the fall season with his best mark of 213 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic.
After marking an eagle in the recent Lone Star Invitational, Heredia Iglesias completed the event with an even score of 216 to place in a tie for 37th overall. Earlier this season, the Sevilla, Spain native led the Falcons with a finish of sixth at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate by a season-best score of 211 in the 54-hole competition. The showing included his season-best round of 67 in the opening 18 holes.
In the number four spot this week is Rispler, who is coming off of a 230, +14 performance at the Lone Star Invitational. Rispler carded an opening round of 70, a low score since a 69 at the Inverness Intercollegiate in September 2016. On the year, the Grand Rapids, Mich. native has been named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week on two occasions, and has finished on top of the Bowling Green leaderboard in three events, including the Marshall Invitational with a score of 212, +1. Rispler marked the highest finish for the Falcons this season by carding a 136, -8 at the Border Olympics to tie for second overall. On the season, Rispler has carded a low round of 67.
Rounding out the Bowling Green lineup will be Walker, who will be making his third appearance in the team lineup. A native of Bowling Green, Ohio, Walker debuted his sophomore season at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic where he carded a 54-hole score of 231, +18 and marked a low round of 76 in the second round of competition. Earlier this spring at the Border Olympics, Walker tallied two birdies and 23 pars on his way to earning a two-day total score of 156, +12 by rounds of 77 and 79.
