Men's Golf Posts Successful Opening to Robert Kepler Intercollegiate

Day One Results
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Bowling Green men's golf team kicked off the Ohio State-hosted Robert Kepler Intercollegiate with a first round score of 313, followed by a round of 309 in the second round. Saturday's two-round score of 655, +54 places the Falcons 14th overall heading into Sunday's third and final round of play, while the Falcons combined for a total of 94 par scores in addition to 11 birdies on the day.
Leading the Falcons is senior Brett Rinker with a score of 153, +11. A native of Slippery Rock, Pa., Rinker opened competition with a score of 74, followed up by a round of 79 in the afternoon to place him in a tie for 35th overall in a field of 81 players. Rinker has notched 21 pars and 2 birdies in addition to posting a 3.25, +2 average on par 3 scoring in the first of two days of competition.
A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., redshirt sophomore Max Rispler shaved four strokes off of his first round of 80 to card an afternoon score of 76 for a total of 156, +14. Rispler has marked a team-leading four birdies, as well as a 3.25, +2 average on par 3 scoring in the first day of play.
In his third appearance in the team lineup, sophomore Trey Walker topped the Falcons with 23 par scores on his way to tallying a two-round score of 158, +16. A native of Bowling Green, Ohio, Walker opened with a season-best round of 75 prior to marking a second round of 83. On the day, Walker also averaged 5.33, +2 on par 5 holes.
Senior Jose Narro decreased his single-round play by seven strokes from the first to second rounds when he went from a score of 84 in the morning to card a 77 in the afternoon in the first day of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. A native of Tampico, Mexico, Narro tallied 15 pars in addition to three birdies on the day, as well as averaging a team leading 4.83, -1 stroke average on par 5 holes.
Rounding out the Bowling Green lineup is sophomore Pablo Heredia Iglesias, who currently sits tied with Narro by a score of 161, +19. Similar to the senior, Iglesias carded rounds of 84 and 77 to post a significant improvement between rounds of competition. A native of Sevilla, Spain, Iglesias tallied 18 par scores as well as two birdies through 36-holes of play.
Mid-American Conference foe Kent State currently tops the leaderboard by a two-round score of 579, +11, while the Golden Flashes' Chase Johnson leads the individual play with a mark of 144, +2 heading into the third round of competition.
