Bowling Green, Ohio - Fans have just a few more days to submit their nominations for the next class of Athletics Hall of Famers. Nominations will be accepted through April 30. The next induction class will be the 51st in history.
"We are thrilled to initiate the public nomination process for the 51st induction class of the Bowling Green State University Athletics Hall of Fame," BGSU Senior Associate Athletics Director Kit Hughes, chair of the Hall of Fame committee, said. "By engaging all members of the Falcon Family in this important process, we are able to ensure that the rich and diverse history of Bowling Green Athletics is well represented in our Hall of Fame. This is the best-of-the-best of Falcon Athletics, and our 50th anniversary class was made even more special due to the overwhelming number of nominations received through our public process. We invite all alumni, family and friends of Bowling Green to submit their nominations today."
BGSU's Athletics Hall of Fame exists to recognize Bowling Green State University's former student-athletes, teams, coaches, administrators, and special inductees who have distinguished both themselves and the University through their achievements, commitment to excellence, and their dedication to advancing the rich history, tradition and legacy of Falcon Athletics.
Teams and individuals are eligible for consideration for the Hall of Fame by being nominated. In order to be eligible for the Hall of Fame, student-athletes must be ten years removed from their last date of competition at Bowling Green State University and must have earned at least one varsity letter. Teams must also be ten years removed from the last date of competition and must have attained success in honoring and elevating the reputation of legacy of BGSU.
Coaches and administrators are eligible for nomination into the Hall of Fame but must be five years removed from service at BGSU. They must have served a minimum of five years and the individual's entire athletics contribution to the University will be considered. Special inductees who made consistent and significant contributions to BGSU Athletics will also be considered. Attending BGSU as a student is not a requirement but special consideration will be given to individuals who have brought recognition to his/her alma mater through significant personal and/or professional achievements.
BGSU has inducted 230 individuals and two teams (the 1983-84 hockey national champions and the 1959 football national champions) to the Hall of Fame. In 2016, BGSU athletics inducted Josh Harris '04 (football), Tracy (Gaerke) Seeley '91 (track and field) and Keith McLeod (basketball).
