Righter, Gustafson Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Randy Righter and track and field athlete Aliyah Gustafson.
Male Athlete of the Week
Randy Righter, a junior from West Bloomfield, Michigan, recorded an RBI in all three of Bowling Green's games at Ohio this weekend. He posted an RBI apiece in the series opener and finale, while going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run in the second game of the three-game series. Righter blasted a two-run home run for his two RBI on Saturday (May 6), which pushed his home run total for the season to four. Righter has a team-high 45 hits, and is batting .280 on the season with 17 RBI and 11 doubles.
Female Athlete of the Week
Aliyah Gustafson, a redshirt junior from Iowa City, Iowa, won the shot put at the Toledo Invitational and finished second in the discus, behind only teammate Elizabeth Iversen. Despite poor weather conditions throughout the entirety of the competition, Gustafson throw the shot put 49-feet-0.25 as the Falcons took 1-2 in the event. In the discus, BGSU took the top three spots as Gustafson threw 143-10 to earn runner-up status.
