>>FALCONS HOST BACK-TO-BACK TOURNAMENTS WITH BGSU/TOLEDO INVITATIONAL
After kicking off the 2017 season with the Hampton Inn Invitational last weekend, the Falcons will remain at home by hosting the BGSU/Toledo Invitational. Bowling Green will face Notre Dame Friday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m., followed by Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. The teams will play matches at both BGSU and Toledo over the course of the seven-match tournament.

>>SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH
First up for the Falcons will be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday (Sept. 1) at 7 p.m. The Irish opened the 2017 season by hosting its Golden Dome Invitational and went undefeated against Valparaiso (3-1), Rhode Island (3-0) and New Mexico State (3-1). Before facing off against the Bowling Green squad, Notre Dame will compete against VCU at 11 a.m. at the Stroh Center, then will travel to Toledo to complete the BGSU/Toledo Invitational on Saturday evening against the Rockets at 7 p.m. Leading the Irish offensively is sophomore Jemma Yeadon, who has tallied a team-leading 33 kills while averaging 4.12 kills per set. Junior Ryann DeJarld has marked seven of Notre Dame's 18 service aces on the season, in addition to holding a team-leading 87 digs for 7.91 digs per set thus far. At the net, senior Sam Fry has jumped for a total of 19 blocks to post a 1.73 blocks per set average. All-time, Notre Dame holds the advantage over the Falcons by an 8-3-0 record.
>>SCOUTING THE LIONS
Bowling Green will face Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday evening to complete the BGSU/Toledo Invitational, with the match slated to start at 7 p.m. The Lions opened the 2017 campaign at the Courtyard by Marriott Invitational, hosted by Samford and went 0-3 on the weekend against Samford (3-0), Murray State (3-0) and Ohio (3-0). Prior to facing the Falcons at the Stroh Center Saturday night, the Lions will face off at Toledo on Friday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m., and against VCU on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. On offense for Southeastern Louisiana, sophomore Chloee Holden tops the team with 18 kills and 2.00 kills per set average, while at the line, junior Haley Baker has notched three service aces. Defensively, both freshman Tempestt Vaughn and sophomore Savannah Alcazar each post five blocks and 0.56 blocks per set. Historically, the Falcons hold a 1-0 record over the Lions all-time.

>>MARCINIAK NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Sophomore setter Isabelle Marciniak was named to the 2017 Hampton Inn Invitational All-Tournament Team after posting a double-double against UIC with 47 assists and 14 digs, in addition to totaling a team-leading 117 assists through 11 sets played. The Lambertville, Mich. native marked a total of seven blocks in two solo blocks and five assists, as well as 2.45 digs per set over the course of the three tournament matches. With Marciniak's assistance blocking at the net, the Falcons held its opponents to just a .175 attack percentage, while Marciniak's two solo blocks also lead the Bowling Green squad after three matched played.

>>ASKIN FOR DOUBLE-DOUBLES
In the opening weekend of her collegiate career, freshman Jacqueline Askin marked a team-high of 37 kills through 10 sets played, while averaging an attack percentage of .234. The native of Louisville, Ky. posted two consecutive double-double matches, first in her collegiate debut when she tallied 11 kills and 11 digs against UIC, and marked another versus Duquesne when she finished with 14 kills and 12 digs. Additionally, Askin was the lone Falcon to tally double-digit kills in all three matches of the weekend, while her four aces are second-most of the weekend by a single Falcon player.
>>FALCONS SET TO BEGIN 42ND YEAR OF VARSITY VOLLEYBALL
Bowling Green State University volleyball dates back to 1967, when the program started as a club team. In 1976, BGSU started competing at the varsity level. The Falcons have racked up a program record of 697-577-3 (.547), including an overall MAC record of 283-252 (.529). The Orange and Brown last won the MAC Tournament and appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2012 – Danijela Tomic's first year at the helm of the program. The Falcons have won two MAC Tournament titles (2012, 1991), two East Division titles (2001, 2000), and have won the MAC regular-season title three times (1992, 1991, 1989).Â
>>TOMIC'S STAFF FOR 2017
Danijela Tomic enters her sixth year at the helm of the program. She guided the Falcons to a MAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Tournament in her first year at BGSU in 2012. Tomic returns assistant coach Alex DelPiombo for a second season, while Alison Cooke joins the program for her first season as an assistant coach for the Falcons. Evan Antal begins his second season as the director of operations. Cooke was previously the volunteer assistant at Duke University since March 2015. The Falcons are also assisted by first-year volunteer assistant coach Andrew Sydow, who was a men's volleyball student-athlete at Mount Olive.
>>BGSU SET TO HOST 13 MATCHES FOR 2017 CAMPAIGN
Not only will the Falcons host back-to-back tournaments inside of the Stroh Center to open the 2017 season, but Bowling Green is set to host 13 home matches in total. After playing three matches in the Hampton Inn Invitational (Aug. 25-26) and two matches in the BGSU Invitational (Sept. 1-2), the Falcons will head directly into Mid-American Conference action versus Northern Illinois (Sept. 23) at home.Â
>>ORANGE AND BROWN BOOST A YOUNG AND EXPERIENCED ROSTER
The Falcons return 11 players from the successful 2016 season, which includes just one senior on the 15-member roster. Joining senior outside hitter Nicole Slimko on the court this season will be four juniors, six sophomores and four freshmen. Freshmen saw significant action on the court this past weekend, and accounted for 55 of the Falcons 140 kills, as well as 16 of 23.0 blocks through 11 sets played.
