Walny Named MAC Runner Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Redshirt junior Rachel Walny, of the Bowling Green State University women's cross country team, was named the MAC Women's Runner of the Week, the league announced Tuesday (Sept. 19). Walny, in her first race of the season, finished first overall at the 2017 Spartan Invitational Friday, Sept. 15.
She competed in a field of 33 teams, including four MAC schools and 290 total participants to finish. Walny crossed the finish in 21:19.0, seven seconds faster than her previous finish at the Invitational in 2015 where she placed third.
The Invitational was Walny's first race since competing at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships last season.
