BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University cross country teams are set to compete at the 62nd annual Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational this Friday, Sept. 29. The Invitational
The Falcons women's team is scheduled to compete in the fourth event of the day, the Women's Gold Division Race, a 5K at 3:15 p.m. The men's squad will follow at 4 p.m., participating in the Men's Gold Division Race, a five mile run.
Scouting The Competition
In all, there are 51 teams scheduled to participate in this year's Invitational, which are then divided into two races per gender and an open race in between. The women will compete against 26 other teams while the men are in a field of 22. Both gold races host six regionally ranked teams, including Great Lakes Region foe Indiana State (13).
What They're Saying
"Our expectations are high," head coach Lou Snelling said. "We need to take the next step and doing that in a setting with the highest competition we've seen so far is beneficial."
"We are still training at a really high level," he said. "Every week our fitness gets better and our training gets more specific. We are at that point in the season where we must separate fitness and fatigue."
"There will be some new faces in the field this weekend so I'm excited to see what they bring to the program at the competitive level," Snelling said.
