SETTING THE SCENE
• Bowling Green plays its home opener Saturday against Football Championship Series opponent South Dakota. The contest is slated for a 6:00 pm start and will be broadcast on ESPN3/Watch ESPN.
• BGSU and South Dakota are meeting for the first time in the history of either program.
• The Falcons are 8-1 in their last nine home openers, including a 27-26 victory over North Dakota a year ago.
• BGSU has a current two-game win streak at Doyt L. Perry Stadium, defeating Kent State 42-7 and Buffalo 27-19 to close the 2016 season.
• Bowling Green is 13-2 all-time against current member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Most of those match-ups have come in an 8-0 record against Southern Illinois.
