Wiggins, Gustafson Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's basketball player Demajeo Wiggins and track and field student-athlete Aliyah Gustafson.
Male Athlete of the Week
Demajeo Wiggins, a junior from Toledo, Ohio, posted his fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season, as the Falcons went 1-1 last week. For the week, Wiggins averaged 16.5 points and 13.5 rebounds. Wiggins began the week with 15 points and 15 rebounds in a win over Northern Illinois, then concluded the week with an 18-point, 12-rebound effort at Akron. Wiggins, who is averaging 16.5 points and 10.8 rebounds in MAC play, has six double-doubles in 2017-18, which matches his total from all of last season.
Female Athlete of the Week
Aliyah Gustafson, a redshirt senior from Iowa City, Iowa, placed first among active collegiate competitors at the Doug Raymond Invitational, hosted by Kent State, breaking her own school record in the shot put with a distance of 16.55m (54-feet-3.75). That distance leads the MAC and ranks 10th nationally. Gustafson also finished second in the weight throw at 19.02m (62-5), a distance that ranks among the top 35 in the country.
