Johnson, Walny Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Max Johnson and cross country runner Rachel Walny.
Male Athlete of the Week
Max Johnson, a sophomore from Lakeville, Minn., capped off the month of October with a five point week as the Falcons went 2-0-1 in three games with two top 20 opponents. He scored a goal in Tuesday (Oct. 23) night's win over No. 19 Western Michigan, and then scored his first career hat trick on Friday (Oct. 26) in Bowling Green's 8-2 win at No. 4 Ohio State. He would then add an assist the following (Oct. 27) night at home as BGSU tied with OSU 2-2. As of now Johnson is tied for first in the nation in scoring with 13 points, and alone in third place in goals with six.
Female Athlete of the Week
Rachel Walny, a redshirt senior from Clinton Township, Mich., came away with a third place finish at the 2018 Cross Country MAC Championships. Walny led for majority of the race and concluded with a time of 20:41.9. With her finish, Walny earned first-team All-MAC honors for the fourth consecutive year.
