BGSU Tennis Pick Up Wins Versus Cleveland State and Connecticut in Viking Invitational

The Bowling Green State University tennis program completed the first day of the Viking invitational on Friday, Oct. 5. The Falcons played Akron and Connecticut in separate rounds of doubles, and went up against Cleveland State in a round of singles.
In doubles play, the Falcons gave up two matches against the Akron Zips, but managed to defeat the Huskies in the round that followed.

In singles action, the Falcons won five of the six matches that were completed. Â

DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS
• BGSU faced Akron in their first round of doubles. Paula Comella and Marharita-Sophia Tavpash defeated Akron pair Rita Pedroso and Anna Uljanov 6-1. Akron pairs won the second and third match against BGSU pairs Polina Radeva and Ayumi Sasaki (6-4), and Marta Bettinelli and Vanesa Pardo (6-4).
• Bowling Green later faced the Huskies in the second round of doubles in which Falcon pairs Comella and Tavpash, and Pardo and Bettinelli won their matches 6-0 and 6-2. Radeva and Sasaki were dealt another loss (6-3) against Connecticut's Julianne Bou and Gillian Perrotta.
SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS
• Bowling Green won five of the 6 matches versus the Cleveland State Vikings.
• Comella (6-2, 6-3), Tavapash (6-3, 6-2), and Saskui (6-3, 6-0) each won their matchups in two sets.
•Vanesa Pardo was awarded a win in her matchup, claiming the first set 6-3, before the rival was forced to pull-out of the match in the second set.
