
BGSU Battles UAA To 0-0 Tie, Picks Up Extra Point In OT

ANCHORAGE, Alaska. – The No. 10 ranked Bowling Green State University hockey team tied the Seawolves of Alaska Anchorage zero to zero in game one of their series on Friday (Nov. 9) night. The game was dictated by strong goal tending on both sides of the ice as the Falcons and Seawolves would battle to a zero to zero draw by the end of regulation. In just his second start of the season, Eric Dop would make 33 saves shutting out the Seawolves. Chris Pohlkamp would score for Bowling Green in the second overtime period, gaining the Falcons a second point in WCHA play. Bowling Green will conclude the series with Alaska Anchorage on Saturday (Nov. 10) night in Sullivan Arena at 11:07pm eastern time.

- The game's lone goal came from senior defenseman Chris Pohlkamp in the second overtime period to end it. His goal tallied another point for the Falcons in the WCHA standings.
Other Key Plays
- Eric Dop had a number of great saves early in the contest. At 6:53 left in the first period he saved an excellent backhander and then the rebound shot. The Falcons would gain a power play following a scrum that would ensue.
- One of opportunity for the Falcons came at 10:51 into the second period when Lukas Craggs got a jump on defenders skating hard to the net on two on one. Only a great save by Seawolves goaltender Brody Claeys would keep it a scoreless game.
- With 3:51 left in the third period Brandon Kruse crossed the puck to Max Johnson who delivered a heavy slap shot on net. Claeys made another great save for UAA.
Falcon Stat Facts
- Bowling Green collected their second shutout of the season as Eric Dop turned away 33 shots on the evening.
- Though each team gained a point in conference play with the tie, Chris Pohlkamp's goal gained the Falcons an extra point bringing their league point total to five.
Coach Bergeron's Take
- On Eric Dop's performance, "Eric played really well. He hadn't played in a month. If it wasn't for Eric we lose that game.
- On special teams, "Unfortunately our power play just isn't playing very well right now. They picked up where they left off last week instead of changing what we did last weekend. I thought our penalty kill continued to perform well."
- Bowling Green will conclude the series with Alaska Anchorage on Saturday (Nov. 10) night in Sullivan Arena at 11:07pm eastern time. The Falcons will then return home next weekend for a two game series with Lake Superior State.
