Schaub, Seimet Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week
November 12, 2018 | General, Men's Cross Country, Volleyball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's cross country runner Noah Schaub and volleyball player Kallie Seimet.
Male Athlete of the Week
In his first, and only, 10k event of the year, Senior Noah Schaub, from Uniontown, Ohio, recorded a new personal best at the Great Lakes Regional, completing the race in 31:39.7, an improvement of more than 15 seconds. His performance earned him a 24th place finish of 267 participants and All-Region honors for the first time in his collegiate career. He led the men's cross country team to a 10th place finish among 30 teams to close out their season.Â
Female Athlete of the Week
Kallie Seimet, a senior from Oregon, Ohio, registered 55 digs in Bowling Green's final pair of regular season matches before the MAC Tournament. Seimet posted a weekend digs per set average of 6.87, and 30 digs in Saturday's match versus Kent State saw the libero surpass Chelsey Meek (2,287 digs)Â as Bowling Green's all-time digs leader with 2,300. Seimet's leadership role near the end line has been a critical component in the Falcons' success these past two seasons, in which the team has earned back-to-back MAC Regular Season titles.Â
