RICHMOND, Va. – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was defeated by Virginia Commonwealth University, 72-61, on Monday (Nov. 12) night in front of a sold out Sigel Center crowd of 7,637 fans. Â
The Falcons outscored the Rams in the second half by a 33-30 margin. However, turnovers were the story of the game. VCU's press and pressure defense led to 27 BGSU turnovers that were turned into 30 VCU points.
Â
A complete foul fest of a game, seven different Falcons had multiple fouls, including three Falcons with four fouls and two more with three. BGSU's leading scorer Justin Turner played just five minutes in the first half due to foul trouble. A total of 51 fouls were called in the game.
Â
QUOTE OF THE GAME
"We turned the ball over way too much to give ourselves any type of chance to win the game," said head coach Michael Huger. "When you turn it over that much, there's not much else you can do. And it wasn't even against the press – it was after we broke the pass."
Â
