BGSU travels to face the Nittany Lions on Friday evening
The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team will meet Penn State University on Friday evening (Nov. 9), in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Championships. The Falcons and Nittany Lions will meet at Jeffrey Field, with first touch set for 6:00 p.m.
The Falcons earned the Mid-American Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships after winning the MAC Tournament title on Sunday afternoon. BGSU also won the MAC's regular-season crown, and the Falcons are headed to the NCAA Championships for the third time.
And, for the third time in as many national tourney appearances, BGSU will meet a Big Ten Conference opponent. The Falcons faced Ohio State in Columbus in the 2004 tournament, before meeting Michigan State in South Bend, Ind., the following year.
Coach Matt Fannon's team is 14-4-3 overall, and the Falcons posted a MAC regular-season mark of 10-1-0.
The Nittany Lions (15-5-1) are appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 24th consecutive season.
Ticket sales at Jeffrey Field are cash only, but fans can purchase tickets for the match prior to Friday by visiting the ticket office at the Bryce Jordan Center Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Tuesday (Nov. 6), starting at 10:00 a.m.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for youth and students of participating schools and $3 for groups of 20 or more.
The BGSU-PSU winner will face either UNC Greensboro or South Carolina the following weekend. THe complete NCAA Championships bracket can be accessed via the link near the top of the page.
