Ryan Bednard Named Jet's Athlete Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winner is hockey player Ryan Bednard. With no women's teams in action, there is no Female Athlete of the Week.

Male Athlete of the Week
Ryan Bednard, a junior from Macomb, Mich., spearheaded a strong defensive effort as BGSU Hockey swept No. 3 Minnesota State by identical 4-1 scores over the weekend. Bednard made 26 saves Friday night and kept the Mavericks off the scoreboard on seven power play attempts. He made 22 more saves Saturday night, allowing only a power play goal in the 4-1 victory. With the wins, Bowling Green moves to first in the country in scoring defense and Bednard is fourth in goals against average at 1.72.
