CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team dropped to 4-5 in 2018-19 following an 82-64 loss to Cleveland State University on Wednesday (Dec. 5) night. The game was played at CSU's Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Cleveland State went 15-for-30 from downtown, and shot 50.0 percent (28-of-56) from the field for the game. Bowling Green was limited to 32.9 percent (23-of-70) shooting for the evening. Bowling Green led by 11 points at the 10:47 mark of the first half, but the Vikings fought back to reclaim an 11-point lead at the break.
The Falcons came out fast in the second half, trimming the Cleveland State lead down to a single possession at 47-44, but a 16-2 run for the Vikings followed, putting the game out of reach for the Orange and Brown.
Senior forward Demajeo Wiggins posted his eighth double-double of the season, which leads the entire country. Wiggins finished with 21 points and a season-high 16 rebounds. Wiggins' 21-point effort marks the sixth 20-point game of his career.
Redshirt-sophomore guard Justin Turner was BG's only other player in double figures scoring the basketball, as he added 16 points to go along with two rebounds and two assists.
Off the bench, Bowling Green was led by senior guard Antwon Lillard (six points, seven rebounds) and redshirt-freshman forward Matiss Kulackovskis (nine points, six rebounds).
Freshman guard Caleb Fields earned the first start of his career, finishing with three points and two rebounds. Sophomore forward Daeqwon Plowden started for just the second time in his Falcon career. Plowden collected four points and four rebounds. Junior guard Dylan Frye had five points and two assists.
