Falcons Wrap Up First Spring Tournament

Statesboro, Ga. – BGSU Men's Golf wrapped up its first tournament of the 2018 Spring Season at the Georgia Southern Collegiate Monday. The two-day event was hosted by Georgia Southern University. The Falcons completed two of three rounds planned for the tournament due to storms. BG shared the course with 11 other schools and played for individual scores only. Pablo Heredia Iglesias, the leading Falcon, finished toward the top of the scoring sheet carding a 148, +4 (76, 72). Five Falcons climbed the ranks improving on their first round scores after the second round of play in Georgia, Coach Powers stated "This course was a great test for us to start the spring season. We made a lot of progress as a team today and I am very proud of the scores we posted to finish off the trip."

The Falcons will continue with the Spring 2018 season with four tournaments ahead including the Border Olympics (Mar. 9-10), the Greenbrier Invitational (Apr. 9-10) and the Robert Kepler Invitational (Apr. 21-22). The 2018 season will conclude with MAC Championships (Apr. 27-29) taking place in Fort Wayne, Ind.

INDIVIDUAL STANDOUTS
- Pablo Heredia Iglesias jumped five places after the second round and finished tied for eighth to lead the Falcons with +4 on the weekend.
- Rodrigue Vie posted a 73 in round two landing him 12 places up from round one. Vie shot a total of six birdies along with one eagle on the weekend.
- Nick Hofland tallied a total of two birdies and 24 even holes on the weekend.
- Trey Walker jumped a team leading 17 places after shooting a team low 71 in round two.
- Max Rispler shot an eagle in round two landing him nine spots above his round one finish.
- Mitchell Kontak improved 10 strokes in his second round of play.
