Falcons Finish At Top Of The Pack In Day One At Border Olympics

Houston, Texas – After 36 holes, BGSU Men's golf sits in fourth place out of 17 teams in the first of two days of the Border Olympics held in Houston, Texas. The Falcons played strong all day starting off in first place and holding the spot throughout the first 18 holes to finish tied in first with UTRGV both carding 279. Five of six falcons carded even or par in at least one round. As a team, Bowling Green notched 47 birdies (23, 24) in the first two rounds, a season high for the Falcons.

INDIVIDUAL STANDOUTS
- Vie leading the Falcon pack after day one tied in fourth place with a first round of 66, -6 shooting even or under in every hole. Vie with an outstanding first round as he notched six birdies along with an eagle, he was in first place through the first 12 holes of the tournament.
- Kontak picked up six places in the second 18 holes jumping to sixth place with his second round consisting of six birdies matching his total number of birdies from the first round.
- Walker playing individually finished with four birdies in the first round and five in the second.
- Hofland sat it 13th place after the first 18 holes as he carded 71, -1 and tallied five birdies.
- Iglesias owns the other eagle for Bowling Green on the day along with four birdies. Both Iglesias and Vie shot an eagle in hole one of round one, a par five.
- Rispler adds to the Falcons' 47 total birdies on the day with two of his own.
