Tennis Opens the Weekend with 7-0 Shutout of IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Bowling Green tennis program (3-1) shutout IUPUI (2-3) on Friday morning when it picked up a 7-0 victory on the road. The Falcons earned a total of six singles and two doubles wins on the day against the Jaguars, to improve to its 4-1 record on the season.

Statistical Standouts
- Junior Polina Radeva remains undefeated on the season by a 5-0 record at No. 2 singles, after downing her opponent by scores of 6-2, 6-1 in today's competition. Radeva led outright to claim the win in straight sets.
- Adding to the Falcons point total was junior Vanesa Pardo, as she picked up 6-1, 6-1 victories against her opponent. Pardo is now on a three-match win streak at the No. 6 singles slot.
- A strong performance at No. 3 singles was sophomore Marharita-Sophia Tavpash, as she only sacrificed a single game to her opponent. Tavpash's 6-1, 6-0 victory was the first singles point on the day for the Falcons.
- Similarly, sophomore Ayumi Sasaki opened with a 6-1 victory after a strong 3-0 start at No. 4 singles. The Montreal, Quebec native went on to shut out her opponent in the second set, for a straight set win of 6-1, 6-0.
- Battling back after being down 1-0 in her opening set, freshman Marta Bettinelli rebounded to go up at 2-1 and never trailed her opponent in the remainder of the match. At the No. 5 singles slot, Bettinelli earned another point for the Falcons by posting scores of 6-4, 6-3.
- After claiming a decisive 6-1 victory in the first set, junior Paula Comella had to battled back in the second set by a narrow score of 7-6 (7-4) marker.
- The Falcons picked up the doubles point after courts 2 and 3 resulted in outright Bowling Green victories.
Coach Dalmacio's Take
- "I'm very happy with this result today. We had to be mentally strong on a couple of courts, which is a great step in being more constant as we go forward. We're ready to face another strong team tomorrow!"

- The Bowling Green tennis program will now remain in Indianapolis, as it prepares to take on UIndy tomorrow, Jan. 10 in a 3 p.m. first serve.
