Falcons Conclude Border Olympics In Texas

Houston, Texas – Bowling Green Men's Golf wrapped up the final 18 holes of the Border Olympics in Houston, Texas. The Falcons finished the tournament tied in seventh place after starting off in first place through round one and fourth after the second. The team carded a total of 859, -5 (279, 291, 289). BG had a total of 67 birdies on the weekend consisting of 23, 24, 20 for each of the three rounds of the tournament. Four Falcons finished in the top half and two Falcons, Vie and Iglesias finished in the top 10.

The Falcons will compete in three more tournaments in the spring 2018 season including the Greenbrier Invitational (Apr. 9-10) and the Robert Kepler Invitational (Apr. 21-22). The 2018 season will conclude with MAC Championships (Apr. 27-29) taking place in Fort Wayne, Ind.

- The Falcons concluded its first team competition of the year tied in seventh place out of 17 teams after 54 holes of play at the Laredo Country Club in Houston, Texas.
- Finishing ahead of the Falcons were Campbell (843), Arkansas State (845), Sam Houston State (855), ULM (855), UTRGV (856) and Western Kentucky (858). Houston finished tied with the Falcons for seventh with a final card of 859.
- After the first 18 holes, the Falcons were tied in first place with UTRGV before falling to fourth place after the second round.

INDIVIDUAL STANDOUTS
- Vie lead to the tournament throughout the first round and held strong in the final two rounds to finish at the top of the pack for the Falcons tied in seventh alongside fellow Falcon Mitchell Kontak.
- Kontak jumped six places in the second 18 holes and another place in the final round to add another top 10 finish for the Falcons along with shooting six birdies in each round totaling 18, the most of any Falcon for the tournament.
- Walker playing individually hit 12 birdies throughout the tournament finishing in the top half for the Falcons.
- Both Iglesias and Vie shot an eagle in hole one of round one, a par five notching the only two eagles for the Falcons on the weekend.
